Catch the Sunset at Wild Horse Monument

If you’re staying at our vacation rental in Vantage, WA, you’re just minutes away from one of Central Washington’s most unique and breathtaking roadside stops: the Wild Horse Monument.

Located just off I-90, only about 5 miles from Vantage, this spot offers sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge and a quick, memorable adventure. Whether you’re up early for sunrise, winding down at sunset, or just looking for a midday stroll, it’s the perfect place to connect with nature—and snap a few unforgettable photos.

The paved parking lot is easy to access and offers beautiful views on its own, but if you’re up for a short climb (less than half a mile with about 150 feet of elevation), you’ll be rewarded with 15 life-sized steel horses galloping across the ridgeline. The trail is a bit rocky in places, so bring good shoes and take your time.

Once you reach the top, make your way to the lead horse—it’s the best spot for panoramic views of the Columbia River below and the rugged landscape that surrounds it. The colors at sunrise or sunset are nothing short of stunning.

So if you’re staying with us in Vantage, the Wild Horse Monument is practically in your backyard—and it’s a can’t-miss stop during your visit!
